Ancient vedic astrology teaches us that the first part of the chart is the development of the individual self. You focus first on your own evolution. The lesson begins with the monthly cycle of the moon.
SUN IS FATHER
The Sun represents the masculine father energy that gives us life. Each of us is born with a solar ray or frequency that flows through us. This connection to the divine solar energy is the spark that gives us an identity that is defined to be authentically unique and just a little different from everyone else. The solar energy represents our personal soul. We begin here.
MOON IS MOTHER
The feminine energy is needed to complete the the masculine to create a whole. The Moon is the frequency that goes into creating our brain. At the top of our body is some kind of miraculous mystery computer that is our mind. Our own mind but also our mind as it connects to everything and everyone else. How our mind gets formed is what sets the general tone of our life.
MONTHLY CYCLE
Every single month the Sun and Moon begin again. They come together in a very quiet way. The new moon is the dark moon. There is no light. The Moon needs the Sun to illuminate the mind. The new moon is the beginning of creation. It represents the mother and father joining; from it a child is born. This child must eventually break away from the parents and form it’s own identity and it’s own life. It must individualize and authenticate. As the Moon moves further away from the Sun it is said to be waxing. It is gaining strength.
HALF MOON
There are some crisis points along the way. These crisis points represent crisis in consciousness. This simply tells us that the development is not easy. Finding one’s way and getting comfortable in the body is just part of this life experience.
FULL MOON
Once full moon is reached the mind receives the full amount of illumination. It represents the full development of the personal character. At this point we move into an opposition, a polarity, a projection, a reflection. We become ready to be in partnership with another to continue our spiritual growth. In the royal celestial court, it is represented as Aries and Libra.
ARIES/LIBRA
Aries is the first sign; the individual SELF. Libra is the opposite; the individual in PARTNERSHIP. Once this first polarity is reached, there suddenly becomes an opposite polarity for all of the signs. The key point is that we are designed to be in partnership to continue along our soul growth. 
INDIVIDUAL CONSCIOUSNESS/SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNESS
Once we pass this threshold we move into interacting with the rest of our current earth colleagues!
