GURU

Gu: darkness Ru: light Guru: one who illuminates

This is the reason I am so in love with sanskrit and this ancient wisdom called Jyotisha. Look how profound this concept is and it is only four letters! Sanskrit literally means, “ refined speech”. The greatest teachers are the ones who can take a complex subject and refine it to the point that it appears simple. Guru is an ancient word that has endured the test of time. India has used this word to describe the great spiritual leaders. With the advent of yoga in the west, the word guru is popping up everywhere; but what does it really mean?

GURU-SHISHYA

Below are three important concepts that help us understand the vedic Guru-Shishya tradition . Shishya means , ‘student’.

SHAKTIPAD

“Shakti Pad, as Yogi Bhajan taught is a stage where the student has gained some power from their spiritual discipline. This power could be deeper intuitive awareness, control over the subconscious mind, a stronger sense of yourself, etc. Now you are feeling like you made it. You think that you are a “Master.” This feeling is the glitter at the bottom of the ladder as Yogi Bhajan has said. You are very much caught up in how important you think you are, that you cannot see beyond your own limited self. This is where people can start to think they are God’s gift to yoga and that they are better than others. The teachings are much bigger than any one individual. Every spiritual master has gone through Shakti Pad. It is an important step along the way. It is a major test too. Can we let go of ourselves to something bigger? When we think we know it all, then we shut ourselves off from new information. There is so much to learn and we can want to control the little we think that we know” http://www.spiritvoyage.com/blog/index.php/what-is-shakti-pad/

DARSHAN

Darśan or Darshan (Sanskrit: दर्शन) is a Sanskrit term meaning “sight” (in the sense of an instance of seeing or beholding; from a root dṛś “to see”), vision, apparition, or glimpse. It is most commonly used for “visions of the divine” in Hindu worship, e.g. of a deity (especially in image form), or a very holy person or artifact. One could “receive” darshana or blessing of the deity, or from a great saintly person, such as a great guru. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dar%C5%9Bana

DIKSHA

“When the mind of the guru and the disciple become one, then we say that the disciple has been initiated by the guru.

STAGES OF AWARENESS

The simple fact is that wisdom and energy can be transferred from a teacher to a student. Frankly, I believe we are all teachers and students along the way. Remaining open and humble enough to receive and give is the way of the peaceful heart. Animals can even be our greatest teachers; however, when it comes to moving into the understanding of YOURSELF, the path is not as easy. Having teachers/gurus along your way is essential to expedite your evolution.

JUPITER FREQUENCY

Well, the sanskrit name for Jupiter is Guru! Go figure. Jupiter is the number one benefic. Jupiter removes obstacles and teaches us the how to move to a higher path. Each year Jupiter moves to a different classroom or cosmic frequency temple. If you have any of your karmic coding in that frequency the light of Jupiter will set off your personal karma. We are just now entering Jupiter into Gemini.

JUPITER IN GEMINI

There is a lightness of Being here. Talking and laughing. I once asked one of my guru’s what is the most spiritual action one can take and he said, “ to laugh’. What a great answer. When we laugh we celebrate. Have you ever noticed that some of your best laughs are when things are so tough that you and your best friends find yourself in fits of laughter over the dismal state of your life? It heals.

VENUS & MERCURY IN GEMINI

Venus and Mercury enter Gemini this week to pave the way for Jupiter. By May 31, 2013, we will go from no planets in Gemini to three. Mercury is exalted here which strengthens the entire party. Watch for blocked communication to begin to flow. Take this opportunity to open up dialogue. If you feel a shift if your own world, check out where Gemini falls in your own chart. This is playful and fun. All of the Gemini planets trine Saturn so there is even more help. Watch which direction there is flow in your life..and go there!! Love only…
