The first thing that I notice with Ghandi’s chart is exalted Cancer Moon with Rahu in the 10th giving him extreme connection with women and feminine energy and in the public eye. Whenever a planet is placed with Rahu it receives extra influence – it’s like a cosmic fuel injection system. Rahu influences the power of the planet is it assisting to such an extent that the energy becomes extreme. I have found in many Olympic athlete charts, for example, a Mars Rahu conjunction which gives them extreme energy and drive. So the Rahu Moon in Ghandi’s chart gives him an extreme desire and ability to be lead publicly through an emotional, deeply sensitive and motherly way. So often we see political leaders surrounded by men; I find it refreshing to see a crowd of women surrounding him. He followed Shakata theology, which puts the feminine Goddess Shakti as the devotional energy at the center of his world. Cancer Moon also explains his non-aggressive approach to power.

The Moon is the most important planet in the chart because it shows the state of the mind influencing the ability to deal with emotions. We see a Geja Kesari Yoga giving him strength of influence. Geja Kesari Yoga: Moon in an angle from Jupiter bestowing 4 power, strength and honor. The Moon is the ruling planet for Cancer so in it’s most powerful placement. Moon in Cancer creates a mind that is motivated to ‘mother’ others. In the 10th house of public career, Ghandi is motivated to ‘nurture’ and be a ‘loving guardian’ to the masses and as a career path. Any planet placed in the 10th house is destined to receive recognition in a more public venue.

The nakshatra of his Moon is Ashlesha, which connects the heart with the kundalini energy and adds the spark of sexuality to the caring. We know that Ghandi practiced tantric methods of sustaining his sexual energy abstaining from sex while sleeping between two virgins. This is a tantric method for gaining energy. His intention here was to push his ability to hold more life force, which can be offered as love for humanity.
His definition of Brahamacharya: “One who never has any lustful intention, who…has become capable of lying naked with naked women…without being in any manner whatsoever sexually excited.” MK

Ghandi’s Sun is in Virgo in the 12th, which gives him a love of service and sacrifice. The Sun is his weakest planet so his need for self-satisfaction of ego would be very low. The combination of Virgo Sun and Cancer Moon will give sensitivity to food and some energetic confusion, or even eating disorder with the connection between the two. Rahu Moon will give him an extreme appetite, while; Saturn in the 2nd house of eating gives a pull to discipline these urges. Saturn in Scorpio in the 2nd represents fasting as a means to control his own personal urges, feed his need to sacrifice, and create a public statement. Saturn in the 2nd in Scorpio will also cause him to hold his tongue as a form of communication.

Libran energy is very strong in the chart. The Lagna, Mercury, Mars and Venus are all in Libra. Despite the intense emotions that he felt the Libran energy creates a character that does whatever it takes to maintain a peaceful environment. It also creates an artistic peaceful expression of character.

Malavaya Yoga: The Artist. Venus is exalted in Libra and in an angle in the 1st house. Libra is the sign of justice and Ghandi was a lawyer. Interesting is that Jupiter is in the 7th in Aries in drishti to the smattering of Libran planets. This would cause him to attract aggression, which he would diffuse with his deeply conciliatory approach. We know that he was often attacked and stayed in the non-aggressive approach, which made him so powerful.

“Whenever you are confronted with an opponent conquer him with love” MK

In summary, we can see at a very short glance at Ghandi’s chart the key ingredients of his cosmic character matrix- his Rasi or birth chart- the key elements which shaped his approach to life.

My intention is to teach you in simple quick lessons.

Geja Kesari- elephant lion yoga – gives honor, strength and success.

Pancha Maha Parusha Yoga: Five Great Persons Yoga- a planet is exalted and in an angle in this case, Venus in Libra in the 1st creating: Malavya Yoga –the artist.

Rahu conjunctions: intensify the energy of the planet to the extreme.

“ Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul” MK

In Gratitude to the spirit of Ghandi for offering his chart as an example for our study.
Om Shanti
