JUPITER and SATURN are opposing forces.

JUPITER ~ is governed by GANESHA.

Jupiter is the planet of EXPANSION. It is the Guru of the Devas, or Gods. It is the planet that brings good fortune, removes obstacles, and gives us the freedom to expand. Health, wealth and relationships are directly related to where Jupiter is placed in our charts. All of us have a Jupiter active in our charts. This is where we will look to see a certain level of positive energy. Where Jupiter is placed will show us also how we expand both figuratively and literally! For example, those of us with a very strong Jupiter in Cancer will love to eat and be challenged in expansion on a physical level. In comparison, one with a weak Jupiter in Virgo would have the opposite effect, and would find it difficult to eat during periods of stress, and expansion would come through worry rather than overeating. Both would have the energy of expansion, but operating in completely different ways.

Jupiter in the same sign as mars is great for wealth. Jupiter in the 12th house in Pisces will want a lot of sex. Each personal chart is unique. Understanding your own Jupiter placement, or that of your loved ones, can go a long way in bringing compassion and harmony to life. Jupiter is also the planet of happiness. A strong Jupiter will give one a great disposition that can counterbalance other challenging aspects. A weak Jupiter can create a nature that has to work at staying positive.

Where ever you have Jupiter placed in your chart will give you a good indication of where you have an abundance of talent and concentrated energy. It will also give us an indication of your overall interest in higher learning , spirituality, teaching ability, long distance travel and philosophy. Each of us has a personal Jupiter activation, but we are also collectively influenced.

JUPITER TRAVELS THROUGH ONE SIGN PER YEAR. Jupiter takes 12 years to travel through the entire ecliptic. It is at home in Pisces and Sagittarius and also powerful in Cancer. This year Jupiter is in Pisces until May 8, 2011. Yes, this means everyone in the world is influenced by the light frequency that is activated by this transit.

Mantra for removing obstacles: we chant a mantra to Ganesha to increase our luck and wealth and general good fortune. This is also a very good mantra to chant when we are blocked in some area and would like the energy to open and flow… OM GAM GANAPATYE NAMAHA.

SATURN ~ is governed by SHIVA.

Saturn is the planet of CONTRACTION. We live in a 2 dimensional reality. Everything has its polar opposite. In the case of Jupiter, the polar opposite planet is Saturn. Saturn asks us to have discipline and get to work. It is the area of our lives where we find we have some struggle and may not get what we want with as much ease as we wish. Saturn is also very much about the stark reality of life. Where we have lessons. A good strong well placed Saturn in Capricorn for example, will create a person who has the karma in this lifetime of working with traditional foundations such as government or schools. They will enjoy having a routine and similar work pattern and not enjoy rapid change. Comparatively, Saturn in Gemini will have the challenge of integrity of their word. They may find it difficult to speak freely and may even have some speaking impediment. You see how the focus is completely different! This is what creates uniqueness among us as each of us are living out some special task in our karmic journey of the soul.

Saturn also gives us indication about how we will mature or age. Some of us are designed with a highly Saturn nature and take things very seriously which can push the aging process. Knowing this we may advise one not to work and to take up a highly disciplined form of yoga or marital art which would take on a form of fun for one with such a Saturn.

We look to Saturn primarily to see where one has karmic lessons and how to work wisely with the frequency they have earned.

SATURN COMPLETES ONE CYCLE EVERY 29 YEARS. Many of you have heard of the Saturn return. Astrologically this is celebration of entering adulthood. In the western society we lack clearly defined markers for when we are moving into new areas of maturity or social responsibility. I would like to introduce the idea that during the first Saturn return there is some form of celebration to clearly mark the graduation from child into adult. Watch for my article on the Saturn return for more on this cycle.

SATURN STAYS IN ONE SIGN FOR 2.5 YEARS. As Saturn travels much slower than Jupiter it remains in one sign for 2.5 times longer. When Saturn transits our sun for example, we have the effect for an entire 2.5 years! Yes, it is very helpful to know where Saturn is transiting in your chart at all times. This knowledge helps immensely in understanding why certain areas of life may become more challenging as well as giving us remedial measures to ameliorate difficult circumstances. I often advise one study or get very focused on work during this period. One is also advised to learn how to surrender, let go and let God!

Mantra to Saturn: we sing this mantra to honor the strength and trust that the wisdom of Saturn will make us stronger… OM NAMAH SHIVAYA.

SHIVA AND GANESHA AS FAMILY…

As it turns out Shiva and Parvati are the parents of Ganesha! This creates a special bond between Saturn and Jupiter and we want to pay attention when they are dancing together in the sky. 2010 and 2011 see the Saturn and Jupiter in drishti, or opposition which means that if you were to look into the sky you will see them in opposite constellations.

SATURN IN PISCES ~ JUPITER IN VIRGO. Jupiter and Saturn have been opposite in the sky for almost a full year. Saturn is in Virgo and will remain there until mid 2012. Jupiter is in Pisces for one year, a cycle which will end on May 8, 2011. What does this mean?

GOD IS IN THE DETAILS. Saturn in Virgo asks us all to take a look at our general state of organization and health. Virgo is the soil into which we plant our intentions. Pisces is the emotional and spiritual growth that blossoms when we develop our passion. Virgo provides the discipline and important details that are required to go to the next level of mastery. Pisces gives us the spiritual essence to create meaning out of our actions. For the aware soul, action needs to have a foundation that makes sense. Virgo is the techniques necessary to do a job properly.

Explanation using YOGA: Saturn in Virgo is the specific moves and breathing needed to have a good yoga practice. Jupiter in Pisces is the meditation of surrender that can take place after a period of intense discipline. Once we do what is necessary, the asanas, the breathing, the focus, which is Virgo, we are able to flood the channels with O2 and open the nadis, allowing Bliss to flow through us. Pisces is the bliss. When Saturn and Jupiter are balanced we can find peace.

There is nothing left to do but connect with the Divine.

Explanation using SPIRITUAL NUTRITION: Saturn is in Virgo until mid 2012, and will see a huge rise in the interest of spiritual nutrition. Saturn in Virgo is the current trend and focus on health and wellness, such as the organic food movement. The best TED talk of 2010 went to Jamie Oliver in his work with schools in the USA. Go to www.tedprize.org to listen to his inspiring talk.

Jupiter in Pisces is the increasing interest in meditation as a spiritual practice.

Explanation using GLOBAL POLITICS: this Jupiter ~ Saturn opposition has seen one of our greatest tragedies with the oil leakage off the Florida coast spurring the need for a global court (Saturn) for environmental justice (Jupiter). Under this transit we are seeing the major revolt by mid-eastern countries demanding more equality. This is also a cry for a change in government (Saturn) in the pursuit of greater fairness (Jupiter).

MAYAN PROPHECY DURING JUPITER SATURN CYCLE: on Feb.11, 2011 we entered the final age in this ever popular long count Mayan calendar. From now until Dec.21, 2012 we enter the age of Co-Creation. The prediction says that time will speed up and that our manifesting, or co creating abilities will expand exponentially. Seems it is a good time to get busy doing all those things you said you were going to do!

SUMMARY: Jupiter in Pisces and Saturn in Virgo is a time of increasing discipline needed in the world. Economically we are asked to reform our spending habits, pay greater attention to the food we are feeding our children, reform laws to protect nature, drop our religious prejudices, and do yoga! All of this will directly affect the opposite point creating a world more based in divine nature.

See the World as projection of Self.

I salute the greatness in each of you.
LOVE ONLY.
