REGULUS
Regulus is a star that is said to be 100x’s as bright as the sun. It sits near the forehead of lion in the constellation of Leo. Regulus is the ‘king maker’. Within the solar signs are the lunar signs. There are approximately two lunar signs per solar sign. The lunar sign in which Regulus resides is Magha.
MAGHA
In sanskrit Magha means ‘the mighty one’. The symbol is the palanquin; the royal chair that carried the king when he moved among his people. This cosmic light frequency is powerful. Historically power is passed along through lineage. Ancient cultures eventually come to the realization that by controlling the breeding of their offspring, power can be passed along from generation to generation. The ruling deities of Magha are the forefathers and mothers called Pitris.
PITRIS
Here we have another beautiful sanskrit word. In the Vedic wisdom, the Pitris are original progenitors of humanity. In all cultures when ceremony is preformed there is gratitude that is offered to our ancestors. “ All my relations” sums it up nicely. The Pitris are there as guardian angels to help us preserve culture, ancestral pride and tradition. In a world today of so much mixing of cultures we are in a new period that can be celebrated during this full moon. Each of us has a grandparent. In north america our grandparents or great grandparents often come from different countries which leaves us with mixed cultural backgrounds. Personally between my grandparents and great grandparents there were 5 different languages spoken, 5 different cultural lineages! This is not unusual for Canadians. If you go to India very often they can trace their lineage back 1000’s of years along a single bloodline. No matter where your lineage originates, you have a Pitri; you have an origin. This full moon take a moment to honor your lineage.
CEREMONY AND RITUAL
Leo and Magha rule the art of celebration. As the moon begins its journey each month in the new moon, it reaches it’s full brightness in the full moon. The full moon is the time to celebrate your successes, no matter how big or small. Celebration is the expression of gratitude through art. How you cut your hair and dress yourself, move your hands when you talk, how you walk, how you laugh, how you look into the eyes of another when you are listening. Celebration takes these simple movements and for a moment makes them extra special.
SHADOW SIDE
The shadow side of Magha is the corruption that can come from the misuse of power. Arrogance, feelings of superiority and cruel fierce activities represent the dark side of this asterism. Dominance at all costs create the ‘krura’ or cruel projection of power without love.
